The Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Awka-Etiti, Rev. Fr. Paul Ihebighi, hosted the event, while several Catholic priests ministered, including Rev. Fr. Barrister Johnbosco Igwe, Rev. Fr. Joshua Obiekezie and Rev. Fr. Patrick Egaga.
In a sermon titled “Six Allegations Against Christianity in Igboland,” Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Igwe argued that Christianity did not erode Igbo culture but refined it by preserving its positive values and discarding harmful practices. He cautioned young people against what he described as a growing tendency to romanticise abandoned idolatries, urging them instead to embrace a faith that strengthens moral values and community development.
The event also featured gospel music and Christian comedy, with performances by Chioma Ezefete, Mirable Chisom, Blessed Modesta, Chief Imo, Albino Brothers, Igwe White and Timothy Ofoegbu.
Addressing beneficiaries during the presentation of funds, Mr. Adimike advised them to channel the support into productive ventures capable of generating sustainable income. He emphasised the need for financial discipline, savings culture and strict adherence to the guidelines set by the empowerment committee.
In separate remarks, Hon. Okonkwo; the Anambra State House of Assembly member for Idemili South, Hon. Ebuka Igwe; the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs. Amaka Obi; and the President-General of Awka-Etiti, Mr. Emeka Ezeoke, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would stimulate grassroots economic growth and youth empowerment.
They also praised the founder of the Faithspiration Initiative, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, for sustaining a platform that blends spiritual formation with practical socio-economic support.
Ahead of the event, the Faithspiration Initiative also carried out a humanitarian outreach, distributing food items, including rice and beans, to indigent families and religious bodies within Awka-Etiti.
In his remarks, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike expressed appreciation to priests, religious groups, seminarians, government officials, Faithspiration members and the Port Harcourt branch of the initiative for their support. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to promoting faith-driven social renewal through evangelisation, charity and empowerment.
The programme climaxed with the presentation of gifts to Rev. Fr. George Adimike and Mr. Lucky Adimike by groups and individuals in recognition of their contributions.
