Dr. Marcel Mbamalu, Publisher of Prime Business Africa, has expressed heartfelt condolences to award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie following the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

In a statement on Sunday, Dr Mbamalu described the loss as “immeasurable” and said his thoughts, as well as those of Prime Business Africa, were with Adichie and her family during this deeply painful period.

He paid tribute to Adichie’s literary legacy, noting that her works, including “Half of a Yellow Sun” and “Americanah”, have influenced African literature and inspired readers globally. Dr Mbamalu described her as a global literary icon whose storytelling has consistently projected African experiences on the world stage and served as a model for young African writers.

The publisher also lamented systemic gaps in Nigeria’s healthcare system that, he said, contributed to the tragedy. Nkanu Nnamdi, one of Adichie’s twins recently celebrated internationally, lost his life under circumstances Dr Mbamalu described as preventable. “Nigeria needs to fix its health infrastructure as part of our larger dream for a pride place in Africa and the global economy; otherwise, our quest for a one-trillion-dollar economy becomes a mirage,” he said.

Prime Business Africa further called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Nkanu Nnamdi’s passing, emphasizing the need for transparency and justice for Adichie and her son. Dr Mbamalu stated the publication stands with the community in seeking truth and accountability.
