Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded by 4.07 per cent year-on-year in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the latest report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The growth rate is higher than the 3.76 per cent recorded in Q4 2024 and also above the 3.98 per cent posted in Q3 2025, indicating sustained economic expansion toward the end of the year.
Nominal GDP stood at N122.81 trillion in Q4 2025, while real GDP was valued at N63.97 trillion.

On a yearly basis, Nigeria’s economy grew by 3.87 per cent in 2025, compared to 3.38 per cent in 2024. Historical data show growth rates of 0.95 per cent in 2021, 4.32 per cent in 2022, and 3.04 per cent in 2023.

Sectoral Performance and GDP Composition

Agriculture grew by 4.00 per cent in Q4 2025, a marked improvement from the 2.54 per cent recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

The industry sector expanded by 3.88 per ceant, up from 2.49 per cent in Q4 2024, while services grew by 4.15 per cent, slightly lower than the 4.75 per cent posted a year earlier.

In terms of contribution to real GDP, services remained dominant at 55.92 per cent, followed by agriculture at 28.66 per cent and industries at 15.42 per cent.

Oil, Non-Oil Contribution and Production Trends

The report underscores the continued dominance of the non-oil sector in driving economic growth.
In Q4 2025, non-oil GDP accounted for 97.13 per cent of total output, while oil GDP contributed 2.87 per cent.

Quarterly data show non-oil contributions rose from 95.98 per cent in Q1 2024 to 97.20 per cent in Q4 2024, and fluctuated through 2025 before climbing to 97.13 per cent in Q4. Oil sector contributions declined from 4.02 per cent in Q1 2024 to 2.80 per cent in Q4 2024, and stood at 2.87 per cent in Q4 2025 after peaking at 4.05 per cent in Q2 2025.

Oil production averaged 1.58 million barrels per day (mbpd) in Q4 2025. Output had risen to 1.68 mbpd in Q2 2025 before declining to 1.64 mbpd in Q3 and 1.58 mbpd in the fourth quarter.

The latest figures highlight steady economic growth anchored largely on non-oil activities, even as oil output fluctuated during the year.
