The Ranger Road Fire has burned approximately 145,000 acres across the Oklahoma Panhandle and into southwestern Kansas as of February 17–18, 2026, with officials confirming the blaze remains 0% contained.

The fast-moving wildfire ignited in Beaver County before crossing state lines into Kansas, prompting evacuation orders in several communities. Authorities ordered residents in and around Englewood and Ashland to leave as flames advanced toward populated areas.

Emergency management officials said powerful winds exceeding 60 miles per hour, combined with extremely dry vegetation, fueled the fire’s rapid growth. The National Weather Service issued Red Flag Warnings across the region, citing critical fire weather conditions that significantly increased wildfire risk and hindered containment efforts.

In Oklahoma, authorities also reported road closures near Forgan as the fire moved through grassland areas, with smoke reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.

Fire crews from multiple local and state agencies remain on the ground battling the blaze, but officials confirmed that no containment lines have yet been secured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Ranger Road Fire is currently among the largest wildfires reported in the United States so far in 2026, with further updates expected as weather conditions and suppression efforts evolve.
