The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed the top scorers in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
It also announced the official minimum cut-off marks for admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated that Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State achieved the highest score of 375 out of a maximum score of 400.
According to the JAMB registrar, the highest scorer chose the University of Lagos as his first choice, to study Mechanical Engineering Engineering.
The second-highest scorer is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who polled 374. Ayuba picked Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his first choice and also chose Mechanical Engineering as his course of study.

The third-highest scorer in the 2025 UTME is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State who got 373 with UNILAG as his first choice.
Olayinka also picked Mechanical Engineering as his course of study.
According to the new cut-off announced by JAMB, candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities must have scored at least 150 in the 2025 UTME. For polytechnics and colleges of education, the benchmark has been pegged at 100, while colleges of nursing sciences will require a minimum score of 140.
Oloyede emphasised that while institutions are allowed to set their own admission standards above the national minimum, they are not permitted to go below the thresholds announced.

“These cut-off marks are not binding on institutions that wish to adopt higher standards, but no institution is allowed to admit below the approved national minimum,” he stated.
The announcement signals the start of the admissions process for public and private tertiary institutions across the country. Candidates are now expected to follow institutional guidelines, which may include post-UTME screening, further assessments, and documentation.
JAMB also reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, merit, and equity in the admission process, especially for candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds.
