M.I Abaga Makes U-turn, Regrets Support For APC

It will be easier for the Camel to pass through the eye of the needle, than  for Nigerian rapper Jude Lemfani Abaga popularly known as M.I Abaga support ruling APC again.

The African rapper number one originator while speaking in a recent episode of the Menism Podcast observed that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is not living up to expectations.

He recalled that he supported the party in  in 2015 because he felt the then-ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was corrupt, adding that he made a mistake by supporting APC which which is already dreaming of return in 2027 after close to 12 years in power.

M.I. reiterated that APC is not the party of his dreams, adding that he is now focused on using his talent and platform to collaborate with other youths in building a better nation.

He said, “I tweeted about the thing [herdsmen attacks] that happened in Benue and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC.

“Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy.’

“As human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong [sometimes]. APC unfortunately isn’t the APC of my dreams.”

M.I and Tuface Idibia better known as 2Baba who are both from Benue, only recently condemned the killing in the state and challenged the government to nip the heart-aching development in the bud.

In an emotional Instagram video, 2Baba described the killings in Yelwata, Daudu, Mtswenem, and Akondotyough Bawa as a national emergency. “What is going on in my state has become a national emergency. I can not wrap my head around it,” the 49-year-old said, lamenting the lack of solutions. “This thing has to stop. It has to evoke everybody,” he added, calling for decisive action from the government and stakeholders to address the crisis.

M.I on his part, expressed solidarity with Benue’s communities in a social media post, stating, “My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed.” He highlighted the human toll of over 100 reported deaths in Guma Local Government Area, where suspected herders killed residents, some burned alive, in a two-day rampage. “The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics, they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart,” even as he called for an end to the normalized cycle of violence.
