Nigerians  currently battling with economic and social challenges including sky-rocketing prices of commodities  temporarily put that aside to smile once more after Super Eagles humbled former Eagles Coach now coach of Benin Republic Gernot Rohr and his team 3-0 in Uyo.

Rohr and his Cheetahs had hit Uyo, still basking in the euphoria of their 2-1 defeat of Super Eagles in the World Cup qualifiers last in June and were dreaming of consolidating and retaining the bragging right. But they had another thing coming as it turned out to be a party day for Eagles.

A brace from Ballon d Or nominee Ademola Lookman who has established himself as a must play in the team and a third goal from Galatasarray new signing Victor Osimhen put noisy Cheetahs in their place.

The odds favour Eagles in the clash against Amavubi whose supporters are a delight to watch and always as vibrant as the Nigeria football Supporters club.

They are known for maintaining the tempo of maximum support for Amavubi from start to finish. With the usual chant of ‘Amavubi o ye” you will be rest assured that the Eagles will have a 12th player to deal with on Tuesday.

Nigeria and Rwanda have met five times, with the Super Eagles picking up two wins, while three games ended in stalemates.

Amavubi Scored Against Eagles 19 Years Ago

Interestingly, Rwanda have only managed to score once against the Super Eagles way back in 2005 in the World Cup qualifiers leading to the 2006 World Cup hosted by Germany.

On that occasion, Rwanda’s Jimmy Gatete, shot the homers into the lead at the Amahoro Stadium in the 53rd minute to the delight of home fans, but the jubilation was short lived as Obafemi Martins, known for his somersaulting celebration, responded in the 78th minute to put the game at par.

The remaining minutes of the game became a ding-dong affair that produced no goal.

Fast forward 19 years later, Austin Eguavoen led Eagles will be looking forward to increase their winning tally.
