South Africa Compounds Zimbabwe’s Woes, Moves To Second in Group C

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa shot into the second position of Group C, after making a cof The Warriors of Zimbabwe,  in continuation of the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

The Hugo Broos led team, who held Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw, at the Nest of Champions in Uyo last Friday, enjoyed goal harvest in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, beating The Warriors 3-1 to the delight of their countrymen, who turned out in large numbers to cheer the team to victory.

The result saw South Africa move to the second position, with seven points in four matches played so far. Rwanda, however, remains table toppers with seven points in four matches after beating Lesotho by a lone goal away.

Giant killers, Republic of Benin,  also boast of seven points in third position leaving Nigeria and Zimbabwe, languishing at the bottom of the ladder.

Eight countries standing a good chance of making it to the World Cup, if they maintain the tempo of their current runs are; Egypt and Guinea Bissau in Group A, Sudan and Senegal in Group B, Rwanda and South Africa in Group C, and Cameroon and Libya in Group D.

Others are Morocco and Tanzania in Group E, Last Nations Cup hosts and winners, Cote d Ivoire and Gabon in Group F, Algeria and Mozambique in Group G, Tunisia and Namibia in Group H and finally Comoros and Ghana in Group I.

The next and final sets of world Cup qualifiers, begin in March next year.
