FIFA U-20 W/Cup: Falconets Set For Friendly Against Australia

The nation’s U-20 Women team, the Falconets, already in Bogota venue of this year’s FIFA U-20 Women world Cup, are ready for Friday friendly against Australia, the team has confirmed.

The team has been putting finishing touches to preparation since arriving Bogota, the Colombian capital.

The clash with Australia is scheduled for 10 a.m. Colombia time (4 p.m. Nigeria time) on Friday at the Club Banco de la República in Bogota.

NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon, has assured thenff.com that all arrangements have been concluded for the encounter.

The Christopher Danjuma tutored side  has been boosted   by the presence of a number of players who have seen action with the Nigeria senior team, the Super Falcons, including defenders Jumoke Alani, Rofiat Imuran, and Comfort Folorunsho, and forwards Opeyemi Ajakaye, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, and Flourish Sabastine.

After Friday’s friendly, Falconets will then face Mexico Monday in their final shape-up match before the kickoff of the tournament.

The girls from Mexico will be featuring in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup for the 10th  time, having missed one previous championship, while Nigeria is one of only four countries (the others being USA, Brazil and Germany) to have played in every final tournament since the competition was launched as an U-19 event in Canada in 2002.

Falconets begin their first match Sept 2nd against South Korea, the second match will be against Germany Sept 4 while the last group match will be against Venezueala on September 7.
