Primebusiness.africa recalls that the couple separated in 2019, reconciled in 2021 before the final straw that broke the camel’s back, leading to divorce in 2022 with infidelity ranking among the raison d’être for the rocked boat.

Both had done the usual associated with relationship gone sour, un-following and deleting their combined pictures and on social media.

Two years down the line after what is believed to be the final crash, Sonia dished out a now trending lengthy letter of apology without necessarily seeking a re-union. The letter has given Netizens serious job as many have studied it as if preparing for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam, and have come up with their verdict.

She wrote on Instagram: “Many individuals assert that I possess powerful, mysterious allure, which is why I’m particularly cautious about the people I allow into my life. Ending a relationship or friendship is always challenging for me.

“My beloved superstar, we have journeyed far together, and I am truly grateful for the grace God has bestowed on our lives. We both struggled to make this work, even in the face of divorce. I understand how careful you were to keep your family in the dark about what was happening behind closed doors, knowing that it would start another fight.

“I know how hard you fought to be a loving father to our children despite family pressures. I understand the emotional pain you are experiencing due to your separation from your beloved family (John 10:10), despite your efforts to portray a false sense of happiness to appease them on Instagram. You are a wonderful man, and I will always be there for you physically and spiritually.

“I am using this opportunity to express my sincere apologies for the negative impact my posts may have had on you. Peace is essential for you given the nature of your job, and because of your purity, I bear no resentment towards you. I wish you all the best.”

While Ighalo, who scored 16 goals for the Super Eagles in 27 appearances is yet to say ‘jack Robbinson’ over the letter of the century, Netizens in a swift reaction handed in their verdict with many telling Ighalo who currently plies his trade with Saudi league side Al-Wehda to “Open his eyes” as all that glitters is not gold and that apology can sometimes be a  ploy to inflict more pain.

DONA👑 @toxicjigg said “Lol….when a girl leaves you and then tries to come back, it means she’s been with other guys and she has now seen your value. But never accept her back.”

Obiasogu David @afrisagacity as if in a mood to march lengthy letter for lengthy reaction said “This is a poor manipulative gimmick to trap Ighalo in her wings.

One doesn’t need to read in-between the lines to see that she convicted herself in the kiddish tale-by-the-moonlight she put up and has the intent of manipulation.

One – you started an apology post by praising yourself, telling pointless gist of how you “posses powerful, mysterious allure.”

Na apology you wan tender abi you’re selling your “market” to “ready buyers?”

Two – you went on to eulogize him, revealing how he’s such a wonderful man, who fought so hard to keep his family.”

You knew this, yet, you thrashed him for, maybe, your side-dudes, who’re maybe likely oiling you in his long absence?

Three, you have divorced him, yet you want to be there for him “physically and spiritually.”

You clearly want to be the Delilah in his life, and it is for your self-contrived, hidden, gains. It’s not about him or the kids.

Clearly… you belong to the “trash zone.” You’re as confused as Saida Boj who wants a man who will spend N20 million on her in a week.

You can be assumed to be an Ezinne Kayode, the gold-digger, who just wants the wealth of her man but never show him love and respect.

You ladies of this generation, with deplorably skewed mentality about life, marriage, and relationships – you need God!

Because, your fantasies are insatiable and insane!

Leave the young man alone. Let him find himself a good woman, who will love him for the sake of it and not manipulate him into misery!”

For KING DAVID £MPIRE @Davidspredict, it is about seeking Internet validation. He wrote “Trying to seek Internet validation, since you both are in good terms why not slide in his dm or call him on the phone to give him all this complements clout is a disease.”

Amidst the lashing and final verdict however, embattled Sonia was offered a slight hope by Abu Usman @goodtaye who chose to speak in parable saying “The “Stove” inside is better than the “microwave” outside. Apologise to him more privately; senior man is not a difficult person. I hope other ladies would learn something here”

Ighalo and Sonia who got married in 2009 have three kids, two boys and a girl.
