CAF Player of the year nominee and Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, was left out of action Tuesday as Atalanta side took Young Boys to the cleaners in the UEFA Champions league.

Lookman, who delivered Europa league title to Atalanta last season, after scoring hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the final, was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s away tie against Swiss side Young Boys at the Stadion Wankdorf City Bern.

Atalanta fired six goals past Young Boys, flagging off the goal harvest as early as the 9th minute of the match with Young Boys having only an 11th minute consolation goal to show for their efforts, thanks to Silvere Ganvoula.

Recall that Lookman was however on target on Saturday just before the Champions League tie against Young Boys in the Italia serie A in Atalanta’s 3-1 win over Parma.

Elsewhere in the Champions League Arsenal appear to have heeded the plea by manager Mikel Arteta for better finishing in front of opponents goal area as the Gunners demolished Sporting Lisbon 5-1. Manchester City still recovering from 4-0 loss to Tottenham in the EPL were held to a 3-3 draw by visiting Feyenoord.

It turned out to be a night to acquire ugly record for Man City as they surrendered a 3-0 lead to end the match in a draw.

No team had ever led 3-0 with less than 20 minutes remaining and failed to win in the UCL, but by leading by that scoreline on 75 minutes, City have obliterated that unwanted feat.

Man City have also joined a pair of English clubs who have thrown away a three-goal lead in the Champions League.

Arsenal did so against Anderlecht in 2014, and Liverpool did the same against Sevilla in 2017, but the Reds did go on to reach the final that season.

The UEFA Champions league continues tonight with a number of tough encounters on the log.

English Premier League side, Aston Villa, welcome Juventus, Liverpool settle scores with visiting Real Madrid, while Monaco and Benfica slug it out among other fixtures.
