Nigeria’s Favour Ofili was in super form on Sunday morning, as she picked a slot in the women 200m semifinal of the ongoing Olympics in Paris.
Ofili who has been the middle of controversy over how her name disappeared from the 100m list forcing her to miss that event, showed her hunger in heat 6 where she finished first in a time of 22.24s. Competing in lane 1, the 21 year old qualified in the heat alongside Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith who finished at 22.28 and Gambia’s G Bass who finished at 22.34.

Others who will lock horns in the showdown in quest for a place in the final are B.Brown of United States, L.T Thomas of Jamaica and B. Williams who emerged from heat 5. Heat 4 produced M. Long, (USA); J Gbai (Cote d Ivoire) and A leduc (Canada). Olympic women 100m Champion Julien Alfred of St.Lucia is also in the 200m semifinal, as she dreams of clinching both 100 and 200m in Paris.
She qualified with time of 22.41 from Heat 1 alongside G. Joseph of France and J Henrikson of Sweden. In total, 18 ladies will lock horns in quest of a place in the final.
