Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has described Chelsea failure to sign Super Eagles and Galatasaray loanee, Victor Osimhen, in the last transfer window as a big mistake.
Chelsea lingered at the forefront in the bid to sign Osimhen out of Napoli but fizzled out at the 11th hour to the surprise and disappoint of many, including fans of the Stamford bridge landlords.

“The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen. He was the big name they wanted and didn’t get,” Johnson told Betfred.

“They’ve signed loads of youngsters that may not be in the team straight away, despite spending a lot of money on them, and I think Osimhen is the big signing that they’ve missed out on.”
The Nigerian international was on the verge of being frozen out at Napoli, following failed contract bids, but finally moved to Turkish league giants, Galatasaray, at the end of the transfer window on a season-loan, where he received massive reception from appreciative fans and club management.
Osimhen who scored one of the goals as Super Eagles humbled Gernot Rohr Cheetahs, following a 3-0 defeat in the AFCON qualifiers recently, has since settled down at Galatasaray making his debut memorable with a record seven shots on goal as Gala walloped Rizespor 5-0, a record in a Super Lig match this season.
Osimhen and Gala fans will be looking forward to his first goal of the season. Gala hammered Gaziantep FK 3-1 in the Süper Lig Tuesday but Osimhen was not featured. The side will be away to Fenerbahce on Saturday.
