Super Falcons Coach, Randy Waldrum, has resigned his position citing disturbing health challenge of his wife as reason for the action.
The 67-year-old American tactician who has been a perfect blend with Falcons since assuming the position in 2020, expressed regrets that he had to leave a team that is so dear to his heart, but added that it has been a difficult but inevitable decision to take.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelIn a very lengthy letter in which the former Houston Dash coach took time to thank everyone who has helped him in the course of doing the job, said he had to do it now to enable the country the search for a new coach for the Falcons, describing the team as incredible.
The letter reads in part, “It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that, after much thought and consideration.
“I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons. This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad.”

Recall that Randy Waldrum led the national team to a semi-final finish at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
He equally led the team to the last FIFA women world cup in Australia/New Zealand where the team received ovation for impressive run despite crashing out in the round of 16 after losing on 4-2 to England in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
He also saw to the return of Super Falcons to the Olympics after 16 years absence. Unfortunately, the team failed to go beyond the group stage after losing to Japan, Spain, and Brazil.
Primebusiness.africa recalls that Randy Waldrum took over from Swede tactician Thomas Dennerby who simply walked away from the team in October 2019 citing undue interference from some vested interest in the Nigeria Football Federation.
