Nigerians have reacted to the fresh demand by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to have a permanent presence at the Dangote Refinery in Lagos, as part of a proposed crude oil supply deal.

Vice president of the Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, has lamented that majority of petroleum marketers in Nigeria are not buying the Dangote Refinery’s products, despite efforts to sell at affordable price.
Edwin stated that the major goal of establishing the refinery is to utilize the local crude and produce petroleum products to serve domestic needs and export the excess.
However, according to him, this development has forced the company to export about 97 per cent of its refined diesel, and jet fuel among others.

Death toll resulting from the flood has risen to 259 in 172 local government areas across 29 states in the Nigeria.
Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, who made the disclosure at the national emergency coordination forum meeting in Abuja, on Thursday, put the numbers of persons impacted by the disaster at not less than 1,048,312 people while 625,239 others were displaced.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has given all Point of Sale (PoS) operators 30-day deadline to begin compliance with the directive to route all transactions through licensed payment terminal service aggregators.
In a circular released on Thursday, the apex stated that the move was aimed at enhancing the tracking and management of electronic transactions in the country.

6. Nigeria Signs Cape Town Accord on Aircraft Lease
Nigerian government has signed the Cape Town Accord on Aircraft Lease, 20 years after it came into effect.
The accord was designed to facilitate assets-based financing and leasing of aviation equipment, including aircraft.
It also helps to expand financing opportunities and reduce costs, with the intended economic benefits.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima presided over the signing of the accord at the State House, Abuja on Thursday, in the presence of aviation stakeholders, including the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema.
7. Aviation Workers To Shutdown Airports Sept 18
Aviation workers in all government aviation agencies have resolved to embark on a nationwide protest at airports in response to the continuous deduction of 50 per cent from the Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) of these agencies.
In a bid to increase its financial capacity, the federal government introduced a policy mandating deduction of 0 per cent from the IGR of the aviation agencies.
However, the aviations unions have rejected the policy.

A Supernumerary Chief Superintendent of Police, Blessing Agbomhere, who was arrested on Wednesday for inciting Edo State residents against the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, while dressed in uniform, has apologised to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for abusing his office.
Agbomhere is also the South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress.

According to NERC, the penalty arises from AEDC’s failure to comply with the commission’s previous directive on capping estimated billing for electricity consumers.

The value of the naira recorded its highest gain by 4.8 per cent against the US dollar in nearly two months after the sale of the country’s debut domestic dollar bond.
This marked the biggest jump since July 22.
According to a Bloomberg report, the currency closed at 1,558 naira per dollar on Wednesday, being its strongest level against the greenback since August 21.
