JUST IN: Tobi Amusan Qualifies For Women 100m Hurdles S/final

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has qualified for the semifinals of the women 100m hurdles.

The world record holder achieved the feat Wednesday morning after finishing first in the first heat, posting a time of 12.49s.

Running in lane 9, Amusan brushed aside United States’ Johnson Alaysha who finished 12.61 to qualify second and Jamaica’s Brown Janeek who finished third in the heat with time of 12.84s.

Other contestants in the same heat from Japan, Madagascar, China Netherlands and Ecuador failed to qualify.

Emerging from Heat two are purto Rico’s Camacho-Quinn Jasmine,Britain’s Simber Cindy and Poland’s Skrzyszowska Pia. From Heat 3 emerged America’s Russel Masai,Netherland’s Vissser Nadine and Samba-Mayela Cyrena of France. Six other athletes equally emerged from heats 4 and 5 respectively. As it is, 15 athletes have already made it to the next stage.
