Tiwa is not the only celebrity that is raising red flag over the excruciating economy Nigerians have had to battle with.

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, did not only complain about the situation, but questioned the relevance of the country’s uninterrupted democratic rule if it continues to fall short of addressing citizens’ needs.

In an interview on Channels Television’s special Democracy Day programme on Thursday, Henshaw opined that the country’s democratic experience has failed to deliver a meaningful impact to the lives of ordinary citizens. The middle class, according to her, has been completely eroded, adding that Nigerians are merely hanging in there.

Kate Henshaw says middle class has been eroded

She said, “Our democracy is not being felt by the people. Yes, we have had uninterrupted democracy, but how does that trickle down? What is that trickle-down effect? How does it impact the lives of the people, the ordinary Nigerians?

“There is no middle class and we cannot tell any more lies to ourselves. People are impoverished, healthcare is in shambles, there is no security. “Everything around us is crumbling and Nigerians are barely holding on by the skin of their teeth” she submitted.

She however remains hopeful of tomorrow. “But I still hold on to hope that we will have a country to live in, for our children — something they can build on”, she added.
