Enyimba Emerges Most Followed Club On Social Media In Nigeria

Two time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba, is the most followed club on social media in Nigeria.

The Peoples Elephant, very active on social media, dishing out information about their games, results and programmes, boasts of 393.5k followers in total made up of 106k on X, 279k on Facebook and 8.551k on Instagram.

The Aba landlords, who recently failed in their bid to hit the knockout stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, after losing to Zamalek of Egypt, are closely followed by current table toppers, Remo Stars, who boast of 212k in total, Rivers United with 155.6k, Rangers International with 133.6k and Akwa United with 126.4k, making up the top five most followed clubs in the country in that order.

Enyimba are the only club in the country to have won the CAF Champions League back to back in 2003 and 2004.

Neither the club nor any other club in the country has been able to replicate that achievement in  the last 21 years.

The 9-time Nigerian Premier League champions have however been regular qualifiers for the CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup respectively despite struggling to go far in the competitions.

Other titles in the kitty of Enyimba established 49 years ago, include for Nigeria FA Cup titles, four Nigeria Super Cup titles and two CAF Super Cup titles.

Enyimba currently 8th on the Premier league log with 31 points in 21 matches, take on Akwa United on Sunday in continuation of their quest for a 10th League title.

In other league matches lined up this weekend, El Kanemi Warriors host Nasarawa United on Saturday, just as Remo Stars take on Kano Pillars and Shooting Stars settle scores with Bendel Insurance.
