Passion appears to be overcoming emotions as Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola gingered his boys to a massive 6-0 demolition of Ipswich in the EPL on Sunday.

Guardiola whose widely reported split with wife Cristina Serra has been cited in some quarters as being responsible for some unexpected loses in recent time, appears to have proven critics wrong with a renewed vigor garnished with impressive results.

In Sunday’s match Phil Foden grabbed a brace to help the Citizens climb to fourth in the Premier League as they work gradually towards their title defence.

Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, and James McAtee were all on target in the goal feast against Ipswich who appeared to have been overwhelmed by their more tactical and determined opponents playing away to Portman road notwithstanding.

Pep Guardiola’s side has won three of their last four league games in the course of their comeback to winning ways. Recall that they equally posted a whopping 8-0 thrashing of Sallford City in the FA Cup few days back.

Interestingly talisman Haaland has bounced back in full force for City. The Norwegian who has scored 112 goals in 127 appearances for Manchester City, this week committed to the club untlil 2034 after signing a new nine-and-a-half-year deal. He certainly knows how to beat Ipswich if you recall that he grabbed a hat-trick against the club in 4-1 in August.

While relishing impressive victories Pep and his team face new challenge when they battle Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the Uefa champions League to be followed by potentially tough premier league encounters against Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.

Sunday matches in the EPL threw up interesting results with Everton surviving a nail biting encouter to win 3-2 against Tottenham, Nottingham Forest edged Southampton by the same margin but the shocker of the weekend was Brighton 3-1 victory over Manchester United.

The final whistle was of course followed by boos and jeers ring around a half-empty Old Trafford.

After eight games without a win, Brighton now have two in two and move up to ninth in the Premier League table, while Manchester United remain 13th following a sixth defeat in the last nine, underlining just how big a task Ruben Amorim has on his hands at Old Trafford.

Table toppers Liverpool continue to enjoy the bragging right at the top after surviving a scare to beat Brentford 2-0 on Saturday.

It took two 11th hour strikes by Uruguayan Darwin Núñez to achieve the feat to keep the Reds in control with 50 points in 21 games in the kitty. Sixth placed Chelsea take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in continuation of the league efforts Monday (today) at the Stamford Bridge.
