Ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro arrived at a federal courthouse in Manhattan on Monday for a court appearance.
Maduro was seen in handcuffs as he was escorted from a helicopter to a waiting vehicle before being driven to the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse, where his arraignment is scheduled for noon local time. The transfer was conducted amid tight security, with federal agents sealing off parts of lower Manhattan.
U.S. authorities confirmed that Maduro is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a federal jail that houses high-profile detainees, pending further court proceedings.
