Amanze Chinonye
The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has strongly condemned what it described as a unilateral United States military attack on Venezuela, labelling the action “international terrorism” and calling for the immediate relocation of the United Nations headquarters from US soil.
In a press release issued in Madrid, Spain, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, the foundation said the alleged US military operation against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela amounted to a grave violation of international law and a direct assault on the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The organisation expressed “extreme concern” over the safety of Venezuelan civilians, warning that the use of military force in populated areas posed an imminent threat to lives and risked triggering a humanitarian crisis. It held the US government fully responsible for any civilian casualties arising from the operation.

According to the IHRF, the action represents a “flagrant rupture” of the principles of national sovereignty and non-intervention enshrined in international law, arguing that the use of force undermines the global legal order and replaces diplomacy with coercion.
The foundation also demanded what it termed absolute respect for Venezuela’s democratically elected institutions, insisting that no foreign power has the legitimacy to dismantle or override the will of the Venezuelan electorate.
In its strongest language, the IHRF characterised the US military operation as an act of “international terrorism,” accusing Washington of using its state military apparatus to intimidate a sovereign population and destabilise a sitting government. It alleged that such conduct places the United States in the category of a state sponsor and perpetrator of terror.
The statement further questioned the sustainability of US-led military alliances, arguing that it has become legally and morally untenable for the international community to maintain security partnerships with a country it described as volatile and dangerous. The foundation referenced what it called US threats against the territorial integrity of neighbouring Canada and long-standing allies such as Denmark as evidence of erratic behaviour.
Citing concerns over neutrality and safety, the IHRF formally called on the United Nations and other international organisations to begin the process of relocating their headquarters away from the United States, saying continued dependence on US territory compromises the impartiality of global governance.
The group concluded with an appeal to the international community to enforce the United Nations Charter, urging nations to defend Venezuela’s sovereignty and uphold international law, while declaring solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
