Tottenham have extended the contract of their Captain and South Korean import Heung-Min Son till June 2026. Contract of the South Korea forward was due to expire in June, meaning Spurs were at risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of a decade-long spell in north London since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Barcelona is among clubs rumoured to be looking at signing him this summer, but the 32-year-old will now remain at Tottenham for at least another year.

Son has long-since been the top-scoring Asian player in Premier League history and is the third-top scorer of players still active in the competition, behind only Jamie Vardy and Mo Salah.

He has reached double figures in the top flight in each of the last eight seasons and shared the Golden Boot with Salah in 2022, but has found form harder to come by during this campaign, netting only five goals so far and two in his last 11 Premier League appearances.

The former Hamburger SV star has scored 169 goals in 431 appearances for Spurs in all competitions

“We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026,” read a statement on Tottenham’s website.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have signified interest in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush but it maybe be an herculean task to achieve that dream.

Eintracht Frankurt are currently third in the Bundesliga and firmly in the race for Champions League qualification, making any deal to sign Marmoush that much harder mid-season.

Marmoush, 26 next month, is the second top scorer in the Bundesliga with 13 goals, behind only Bayern Munich and English striker Harry Kane (14).

The Egypt international was in excellent form for last year, registering a better minutes to goal ratio in 2024 than City striker Erling Haaland.

Manchester City are understood to be realistic about the difficulties of doing business in January. Should the right deal presents itself however, City are reportedly ready to make additions in this transfer window.
