Global Outage Hits X as Thousands Struggle to Access Platform

November 18, 2025

The social-media platform X (formerly Twitter) suffered a major global outage on Tuesday, leaving thousands of users unable to load their feeds, publish posts or access the service across both mobile and desktop channels.

According to outage-tracking service Downdetector, more than 11,500 reports were logged in the United States early Tuesday, with additional spikes recorded in India, where over 1,500 users reported disruptions by mid-afternoon.

Complaints ranged from the home feed failing to refresh to website errors and server-connection failures.

The disruption appeared to be widespread, with outages reported across multiple continents. Although X has not issued an official statement on the root cause, early indications point to a technical incident involving Cloudflare, a major web-infrastructure provider used by X and several other high-traffic platforms.

Cloudflare acknowledged it was investigating a network-level problem “potentially impacting multiple customers.”

Technology analysts noted that the incident highlights the vulnerabilities associated with heavy reliance on shared digital infrastructure, where failures can rapidly cascade across services.

The outage has affected users who depend on X for real-time news distribution, emergency communications and business engagement. Some organisations reported delays in scheduled posts and disruptions to customer-facing operations that rely on the platform.

As of press time, reports of disruptions were still being recorded, though some users noted intermittent restoration of service. Both X and Cloudflare are expected to issue more detailed updates as investigations continue.

Users are currently advised to use alternative communication channels for time-sensitive updates while full service stability is being restored.
