Celine Dion To Sing One Song At Olympic Opener For $2m

Ahead of the opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympics on Friday, 26th July 2024, famous Canadian singer, Celine Dion, is set to put up appearance at the cost of $2 million.

TMZ reports that the singer will earn $2 million for her performance at the opening ceremony, which is expected to be beamed to millions of viewers across the globe.

This news follows the singer’s appearance at the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris ahead of her performance on Friday.

Dion earlier expressed her long-standing dream of returning to Paris and seeing the Eiffel Tower again.

Prime Business Africa reports that the 56-year-old has been away from limelight as she battled with Stiff Person Syndrome, SPS, a rare neurological disorder even with her teeming fans across the globe constantly praying for a miracle to occur so that she can bounce back and continue to do what she knows how to do best, dishing out soul touching songs.

She made her first public appearance recently at the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony. Celine Dion’s determination even in the midst of health challenges is infectious as she once said she will return to stage even if “I have to crawl.”

About 10,500 athletes will be featuring in this year’s Olympics, representing 203 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and competing 32 sports in 329 events at the Games, which will run from 26th July to 11th August.

Men football events of the Games kicked off on Wednesday with Morocco beating Argentina, 2-1, France beat USA 3-0, while Japan hammered Paraguay 5-0 among other results.

Dion is no stranger to the Olympics. She kicked off the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, singing “The Power of the Dream.” The ceremony was watched by a record 3.5 billion people around the world.
