Salah scored 28 goals and 18 assists in 37 appearances as Liverpool claimed the English Premier League title even before the final game of the league. The 32 year old by virtue of his exploits is in running for league’s Golden Boot

The Ballon d’Or winner will be revealed on September 22, and Salah is regarded as one of the frontrunners for this coveted honour.

Reflecting on his performances in an interview with Sky Sports, Salah said, “I would say I never had a season like this, especially with winning big trophies. So I would say this is my best chance to get it right now while I’m at the club because it’s been a crazy year, a crazy season with a trophy.”

However, Salah faces stiff competition for the Ballon d’Or from talented players like Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal, both of whom have had remarkable seasons in their own right.

The two -time African Footballer of the year has worked very hard this season and as the anticipation builds for the awards announcement, fans and pundits alike are eagerly watching to see if Salah can secure this career-defining honour for the first time in his career.

Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman came close at the last edition finishing 6th on the log with Spain international and Manchester City forward Rodri emerging winner.

Barcelona young lad Lamine Yamal is one of the players that have thrilled this season. Yamal who is yet to hit 19 contributed in no small measure to Barcelona’s exploits this year including playing a pivotal role in Barcelona’s success as they secured the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España.

Little wonder the club says they are not even ready to listen to offers as it has emerged that some clubs including Ligue 1 giants PSG are seeking to have the young lad in their fold.

Barcelona’s director, Deco, revealed that French football club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made an approach to sign Lamine Yamal during the previous season.

The interest came after Lamine Yamal contributed significantly to Spain’s triumph in the UEFA European Championship.

During an interview with RAC1, Deco, who is well-known for his successful stints at both Barcelona and Chelsea, confirmed that the rumours surrounding PSG’s interest were indeed based on reality.

“Yes, last season, not this one yet,” he stated, emphasizing that while PSG expressed their desire to acquire Yamal, Real Madrid did not make any offers.

He added, “What we want is for him to stay. We don’t want to listen to offers; PSG asked, but Real Madrid didn’t.”

Deco made it clear, that Barcelona have firmly turned down all approaches for the promising 17-year-old forward, asserting that they have no intention of selling him under any circumstances.
