Iranian Air Force Training Jet Crashes in Western Province; One Pilot Killed, Second Survives

An Iranian Air Force aircraft crashed late Thursday night during a routine training flight in Hamadan province, killing one pilot and leaving a second crew member alive, Prime Business Africa reports.

The aircraft went down while conducting a nighttime training mission, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams. Emergency services reached the crash site in western Hamadan as efforts to secure the scene got underway.

Iran’s state television confirmed the death of one pilot, identified by local media as an air force aviator, while the second pilot survived the incident without life-threatening injuries.

According to Iranian TV, an investigation into the crash is currently ongoing, though no preliminary findings have been released. Authorities have not attributed the accident to hostile action or external interference.

The mission was part of standard operational training for air force personnel, and the crash highlights ongoing concerns about safety in Iran’s ageing military aircraft fleet. No civilian casualties were reported.
