Hard fighting Super Falcons of Nigeria crashed out of the ongoing 33rd Olympics Wednesday after losing their last group match 3-1 against Japan. The Falcons had earlier lost two matches against Brazil and Spain conceding a total of goals and scoring one in three group matches.
Prior to the match, the permutations were that Falcons need to win Japan by at least two goals to stand a chance of progressing into the quarters and also hoping that Brazil beat Spain. Unfortunately the permutations came to nothing as rampant Japan grabbed three quick goals in the first half to shoot the game out of the reach of Falcons.

Falcons ‘case is further compounded by the result between Brazil and Spain. The World Cup Champions beat Brazil by a lone goal to seal three wins in three games heading into the quarterfinals.
Second African Representatives, Zambia are currently up against Germany in their final group match with a goal down in the first 10 minutes. The Zambia equally lost their first two matches conceding nine goals in two matches.
Nadeshiko Japan finished as Group B runner-up, two points behind World Champions, Spain who beat Brazil 2-0.
