Vocalist, and one of the last three  men standing, in the Nigeria Idol Season 9, Chima Udoye, on Sunday night, emerged winner of the competition beating equally captivating duo of Lammy and Chioma respectively.

The globally renowned Idol series, concluded its latest season on Sunday, with Chima smiling home with the grand prize of N30 million after the rugged and dogged trio had edged out other contestants.

Prime Business Africa recalls that the contest began with 10 dreamers that came to last three as the battle progressed for weeks.

In their previous performances, every participant gave it their all, aiming to persuade both the panel of judges and the audience that they were the rightful winners of the highly sought-after award.

During the finale, Chioma captivated the audience with her performance of Jodie’s Kuchi Kuchi and Jennifer Hudson’s One Night Only, while Chima’s emotional rendition of Dare Art Alade’s Not the Girl and As by Stevie Wonder impressed the judges. Lammy’s moving performance of African Queen by 2baba (formerly 2face) and Alexander Burke’s Hallelujah received praise from the attendees as well.

Chima thus joins the hall of fame of past winners viz Mercy Chinwo, Moses Obi Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace, Kingdom Kroseide, Progress and Victory Gbakara.

Nigerian Idol has been a popular platform in the country since its debut in 2010, marking the country’s 50th anniversary.

Chima for emerging  the Season 9 winner has been awarded a grand prize of N30 million, a brand new SUV, music deal, music video, and DStv explorer one year premium.
