A 15-year old girl, (named withheld) who was allegedly impregnated by her 20-year old lover, Samuel Maikasuwa, has told the police she was never raped as many had thought.

The pregnant teenager confessed, she has always enjoyed romantic relationship with her lover which went on for several months before he got her pregnant in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Reportedly, the girl had to confess to her parents who had gotten her lover arrested, claiming Maikasuwa raped, defiled and eventually got their daughter pregnant.

Interestingly, their teenage girl turned around, affirming she was not raped.

The alleged defilement which took place between March and May, 2022 at Oba Omolaja Road, Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they both reside, has been charged to the Margistrate Court, Ogba.

It was gathered that both the girl and the suspect were having a secret romance without the knowledge of both parents until the girl became pregnant and she was asked who was behind it, she mentioned Maikasuwa.

On their own part, the Police, had to take the matter to court when they reportedly could did not piece the matter together.

It was also gathered that the Court did not take Maikasuwa’s plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 14th August, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
