Sultan, Agencies Pledge Commitment To Anti-graft Fight In Sokoto

Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), have pledged their renewed support and commitment to the anti-corruption fight of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The assurances were given separately to the Sokoto Zonal Acting Commander of the EFCC,  ACE 1 Nwanneka Nwokike, while on courtesy visits to the Sultan as well as the Commander,  NSCDC, Sokoto, Bello Alkali Argungu, and the Area Controller Zone B, NCS, Kamal Mohammed.

The Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, who spoke through Nwokike assured his hosts of the Commission’s readiness to partner with all stakeholders towards redeeming the country from the scourge of corruption, economic and financial crimes.

In his response, the Sultan assured the Commission of his continued support and that of the sultanate. “We as an institution support the work of the EFCC and will continue to do so,” he said.

Argungu said the Commission can count on the support of his Corps. “The EFCC is the most critical institution in Nigeria today and we stand ready at any time to be of support to the anti-corruption fight.” Mohammed stated that the EFCC was deserving of support of all Nigerians and institutions having recorded many achievements in the fight against corruption. “The EFCC has achieved phenomenal successes and has carved a niche for itself in the history of Nigeria,” the NCS controller said.
