Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their thrilling 3-2 victory over Morocco to win the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), describing the triumph as a testament to the team’s resilience and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, Chief Obiano extolled the Falcons for their exceptional performance, noting that their victory has once again reinforced Nigeria’s position as the powerhouse of women’s football in Africa.

“The Super Falcons have made Nigeria proud by defeating Morocco 3-2 to lift the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. This victory is not just about football; it is a bold reminder of the determination, courage, and tenacity of the Nigerian woman. I heartily congratulate the players, the coaching crew, and the entire football family for this historic achievement,” Obiano said.

He praised the Falcons for their fighting spirit, especially in overcoming a resilient Moroccan side on their home soil, adding that the win will inspire millions of Nigerians, particularly young girls, to believe in their dreams.
