Gunmen Kidnap Abia Electoral Commission Chairman

Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. George Chima, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

Chima was abducted on Friday from his home in Okigwe, Imo State, while he was having interaction with some guests.

A family member reported that while Chima was hosting some lecturers from Abia State University, four armed men, believed to be kidnappers, entered his home. They threatened his guests and took him away.

Police spokesperson for the state, DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident to Prime Business Africa.

He mentioned that the police are actively searching for the kidnappers.

“Yes, we know about the kidnapping of the professor, and we have started our investigation,” he said.

“As I speak, the Commissioner of Police, AbokiDanjuma, is leading a police team to Okigwe. The police promise that we will catch the kidnappers,” Okoye added.
