Pedri Signs New Deal With Barcelona

Spanish player, Pedro Gonzalez Lopez, popularly known as ‘Pedri’ has signed a new deal with his club, Barcelona FC. According to the agreement Pedri will stay in the club till June 2030.

The deal which was signed on Thursday, 30 January, has been in the works for some time now.

“FC Barcelona and the player, Pedro González ‘Pedri’, have agreed on a contract renewal and he is set to stay with the Club until 30 June 2030,” the club said in an official press release.

“The Blaugrana midfielder signed his new contract today in the presence of FC Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, first Vice-President, Rafa Yuste, and the Club’s Director of Football, Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco,” It added.

Pedri, who is currently ranked among the world’s best midfielders, has been in his best form this season. He has always made it to his team manager, Hans Flicks’ starting 11.

On 2 September 2019, Barcelona reached an agreement with Las Palmas for the transfer of the 22-year-old player, effective as of the following 1 July 2020. The player agreed to a two-year contract with the Catalan club, who paid €5 million for the deal, which would increase as he fulfilled various clauses in his contract.

Pedri is popularly known to usually play in a free midfield role, which allows him to roam the pitch; he likes to occupy central areas and operate between the lines, although he is also capable of moving out wide and running towards the touchline to create chances for teammates.

Pedri is considered a quick, intelligent, creative, and hard-working player, known for his excellent technical skills, dribbling, ball control, passing, awareness, and vision, as well as his ability to manage himself in tight spaces, exploit gaps, and play the final ball or penetrating passes with either foot, making him an effective playmaker.
