Over N658bn Lost In Stock Market As Oando, Honeywell Shares Decline

On Monday, April 7, the Nigerian stock market’s all-share index (ASI) declined by 1,295.02 basis points to close at 104,216.87 ASI from 105,511.89 ASI.

This dragged the market capitalisation down by N658.22 billion from N66.14 trillion on Friday, April 4, to N65.48 trillion after trading hours on Monday.

The stock market closed with investors exchanging over 444.10 million shares in 15,690 deals, valued at N11.14 billion, against the 348.27 million shares traded last week in 11,444 deals, worth N8.10 billion.

Top five gainers

VFD Group share price increased by N5.70 kobo to rise from N57 to N62.70 kobo per share.

Total Energies’ share value grew by 9.52 percent, up from N679.70 kobo to N745 per share.

Guinea Insurance ended trading with N0.69 kobo, from N0.63 kobo per share – indicating an increase of 9.52 percent.

International Energy Insurance gained N0.14 kobo to end trading at N1.64 kobo, having opened with N1.50 kobo.

Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share value was up by N0.42 kobo, closing with N5.15 kobo from N4.73 kobo per share.

Top five losers

Cornerstone share price depreciated by N0.33 kobo, dwindling from N3.30 kobo to N2.97 kobo per share.

Oando recorded a N4.20 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N37.80 kobo after opening with N42 per share.

Secure Electronic Technology lost 10 percent in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N0.45 kobo from N0.50 kobo per share.

Honeywell Flour recorded a N1.13 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N10.19 kobo after opening with N11.32 kobo per share.

 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

FCMB reported that 65.49 million shares valued at N588.99 million were traded on its floor.

Fidelity Bank recorded 42.53 million shares valued at N818.38 million.

GTCO saw investors trade 34.48 million of its shares valued at N2.33 billion.

Access Corporation recorded 31.82 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N687.21 million.

Zenith Bank reported 31.67 million shares valued at N1.47 billion exchanged investors’ hands.
