Over N21.18bn Lost As Japaul Gold, Chams Drag Stock Market Down

The Nigerian stock market closed with a N21.18 billion loss on Monday, 14 April, after the all-share index (ASI) declined by 33.72 basis points.

According to data obtained from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the bourse’s capitalisation dwindled to N65.68 trillion from N65.70 trillion on Friday, 11 April.

Likewise, the all-share index declined from 104,563.34 ASI to 104,529.62 index.

Over 428.16 million shares were exchanged in 14,583 deals, valued at N10.51 billion, compared to Friday’s trading of 379.95 million shares in 10,791 deals, worth N10,10 billion.

Top five gainers

Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share price increased by N0.61 kobo to rise from N6.13 kobo to N6.74 kobo per share.

UPDC’s share value grew by N0.28 kobo, up from N2.85 kobo to N3.13 kobo per share.

Guinea Insurance ended trading with N0.69 kobo, from N0.63 kobo per share – indicating an increase of 9.52 percent.

VFD Group gained N8.30 kobo to end trading at N96, having opened with N87.70 kobo.

Top five losers

International Energy Insurance’s share price depreciated by N0.16 kobo, dwindling from N1.64 kobo to N1.48 kobo per share.

Consolidated Hallmark Holdings recorded a N0.25 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.75 kobo after opening with N3 per share.

Japaul Gold lost N0.15 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N1.86 kobo from N2.01 per share.

Chams reported a decline of N0.15 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2 to end trading at N2.15 kobo per share.

Neimeth recorded a N0.20 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.68 kobo after opening with N2.88 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

Access Corporation reported that 55.98 million shares valued at N1.14 billion were traded on its floor.

Zenith Bank recorded 55.42 million shares valued at N2.76 billion.

Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 39 million of its shares valued at N725.87 million.

UBA recorded 33.19 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.04 billion.

GTCO reported 31.02 million shares valued at N2.11 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
