Obi Condemns Killing Of 10 In Anambra, Demands Justice

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has condemned the brutal killing of 10 people in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, describing it as “gruesome” and “totally unacceptable.”

In a statement posted on his official X account, Obi expressed deep sorrow over the attack, which left several others injured, and called on authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators.

“I am deeply saddened by the gruesome killing of 10 innocent citizens in Ogboji,” Obi stated, adding that “The murder of defenceless Nigerians by criminal elements must never be normalised.”

He condoled with the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

The former Anambra State governor stressed that the right to life and peaceful assembly must be respected, adding that no group should be permitted to act with impunity.

Obi urged law enforcement agencies to launch a prompt and thorough investigation into the incident to bring those responsible to justice.

“Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done, to restore public confidence and deter future violence,” he said.

He also called on citizens, especially those in high-risk areas, to remain vigilant amid growing insecurity.

“May the souls of the departed find eternal rest, and may God comfort their families in this time of sorrow,” he concluded.
