FOSAD stated this while congratulating  Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Azuta-Mbata, a former lawmaker who represented Rivers East in the Senate between 1999 and 2007, was elected as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General at an event held on Friday in Enugu.

FOSAD noted that the emergence of  Senator Mbata as leader of Ohanaeze,  came at a crucial moment for the Igbo nation and expressed confidence in his ability to provide visionary and transformational leadership to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.

In a statement signed by its President, Dr Stephen Nwala, and Secretary General, Dr Uzor Ngoladi, FOSAD commended the democratic process that led to Senator Mbata’s election, describing it as a testament to the unity and collective will of the Igbo people.

“We are confident that Senator Mbata’s vast experience as a distinguished public servant, legislator, and advocate for the Igbo cause will greatly benefit Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the entire South-east region. His track record of service and commitment to the principles of equity, justice, and development makes him the right leader at this critical time,” part of the statement read.
