During the visit, the Mayor of Nnewi South, Hon. Van George Ezeogodi, and the member representing Nnewi South II, Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi, briefed the Commissioner on the situation, explaining that the original contractor in charge of the project during the immediate past administration was kidnapped during a period of insecurity in the state. Unfortunately, the contractor passed away a few days after being released, which led to the project’s abandonment.

The mayor, along with the member representing Nnewi South Constituency II, assured the Commissioner that security in the area has significantly improved under the current administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Responding, the Commissioner for Works gave an assurance of prompt government intervention to address the poor state of the bridge.
