Nigerian Embassy In Ukraine Issues Travel, Security On Impending Russia Attack

The Nigerian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine has issued travelย  and security warning to Nigerians on fears of possible attacks by Russia.

This came hours after the United States President Joe Biden said he was certain that Russia had perfectedย  plans to attack Ukraine.

The United Kingdom and the entire Europe have been locked in war of words and diplomatic unrest following Ukraine’sย  plan to join NATO, an entirely West-oriented trade/political group. Some parts of Ukraineย are historically and culturallyย  linked to Russia.

The alert from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kiev, Ukraine, datedย  January 26, advised Nigerians to take their individual and collective safetyย  and security very seriously and avoid unnecessary travels within Ukraine, especially to identified hot spots in Eastern Ukraine.

The Embassy which also gave out telephone numbers and emails to reach in case of emergency, urged Nigerian residents in Ukraine to carry their ”requisite identification at all times.’

”In view of the current developments in Ukraine, all Nigerians resident in Ukraine and its environs, including students and their relations in Nigeria, are hereby advised to contact the Embassy of Nigeria in Kiev, Ukraine, for matters pertaining to enquiries and welfare requests and emergencies,”ย  it said.
