All aspirants who have been asked to step down in the race to national offices at the convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be refunded the amounts they paid to acquire the forms, as  directed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday night.

Buhari, who addressed the governors  and chairmanship aspirants in  an emergency  meeting at the Aso Villa, had asked the Mai Mala Buni-led National Caretaker Committee to refund the money paid by dropped  aspirants with immediate effect.

This comes as the party works to provide a consensus list soon.

Already Senator Abdullahi Adamu has been endorsed for the office of national chairman with Ken Nnamani, former Senate President as Deputy Chairman (South).

Prime Business Africa had reported that candidates vying for the office of the chairman were made to pay N20 million each. Apart from Senator Adamu, now chosen as consensus candidate for that position, six others applied for the job. Forms for the position of deputy chairman  cost N10 million each.

”Finally, all those who have bought forms indicating interest and have been dropped should have their money refunded without delay,” Buhari told his audience on Wednesday night.
