The ruling All Progressives Congress has just confirmed Prime Business Africa’s exclusive report of an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting less than 24 hours after the multimedia company broke the news.

The confirmation is contained in a notice of meeting signed by Dr Abubakar Suleiman the Director of Administration, ostensibly distributed electronically on Friday to all NEC members expected at the Wednesday April 20, 2022 meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.

The confirmatory electronic message as sighted by Prime Business Africa reads thus:

”I am directed by the National Secretary to invite you to the meeting of NEC which will take place as follow:

Date:  20 April Wed. 2022

Time 10 am

Accreditation start by 8am and everyone to be seated by before 9:30am

Venue Transcorp Hilton Congress Hall

Signed

Dr Abubakar Suleiman

Dir Admin.”

APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka subsequently  issued a statement Friday afternoon basically re-echoing the same  invitation to NEC meeting as previously reported.

Prime Business Africa had on the evening of Thursday April 14, 2022 hinted that the Senator Adamu-led APC had summoned emergency meeting of its NEC to approve important decisions of the National auWorking Committee (NWC) since the working committee’s inauguration four days after the March 26 National Convention.

The exclusive report further hinted that information reaching PBA’s Politics Correspondent in Abuja indicated that the proposed emergency meeting is at the instance of the NWC and was based on Article 25:2 of the APC Constitution which empowers the NWC to act in that direction.

Major issues necessitating the emergency meeting, according to the PBA report were the much-needed NEC’s approval for APC’s timetable ‘‘for all events leading to the 2023 general elections as they relate to the ruling party’s primaries to elect candidates for all elections and to submit same to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in good time.’’
