Reprieve For Students As ASUU Finally Calls Off Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month strike.
The union took the decision to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday.

ASUU is yet to make an official pronouncement, but a reliable source within the union said the decision was taken at the end of the National Executive Council meeting which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja which started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday.

The meeting was held to determine their next line of action following the last week judgement of the Appeal Court which ordered the union to obey the order of the National Industrial Court before filing its appeal on the judgement.
