Some residents on Lagos Mainland on Monday assured the Independent Campaign Council (ICC) of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of their support for all the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state in the coming elections.

The residents gave the assurance during the door-to-door campaign by the ICC in some areas of Lagos.

A community leader in Otumara, Mr Jude Ojo, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his quick intervention during the issue of regeneration in the community.

He said that they wanted a situation where all the residents would be included in the development.

The Market Leader at Otumara, Mrs Nimota Jatto, urged the state government to build a standard market and pleaded with the authorities not to relocate their market from their environment.

Another market leader at Iwaya, Mrs Oyedoyin Giwa, asked the government to build a standard market to promote interstate businesses.

Some physically challenged persons in different communities commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for offering them a free ride on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

They pleaded with the state government to provide adequate security to encourage them to come out and cast their votes.

High Chief Samuel Adebowale, a community leader in Ilaje, Makoko, assured the council of their support for APC to win the 2023 election.

Mrs Yemisi Obasanya, at Railway Compound, pleaded with the government to provide more boreholes and pipe-borne water, as well as schools for their children.

Obasanya requested a councillorship seat for the Railway compound to facilitate development in the community.

The Director General, ICC Grassroots Directorate, Mr Ladi Balogun, said they came to visit the people to enable them to make the right decision by voting for all APC candidates in the coming election.

Balogun appealed to residents to vote for Ahmed Tinubu for President, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for Governor, as well as other candidates contesting under the APC platform.

He said that voting for all APC candidates would guarantee progress and development in Lagos and well as in Nigeria at large.

“We started the campaign from Otumara Community, Railway Compound, Makoko, Iwaya and LSDPC housing estate.

“We have been able to visit five places today and we are touching base with the grassroots who will actually do the voting on Saturday and March 11.

“Residents should see the track record of all the candidates contesting under APC platform,” Balogun said.

He described Tinubu as a builder and visionary leader who accommodated all tribes and religions and was the best for Nigeria.

Balogun said that the Mainland and Lagos Island residents had assured them of voting APC from top to the bottom.

He said that they came to find out the challenges faced by the residents in order to present them before the governor.

The Deputy Director General, ICC, Ms Yewande King, said they came to sensitise some communities in Lagos on how to vote and who they should vote for.

King said they visited the residents to give them a sense of belonging, assuring them of more development in their various communities.
