Prof Ifeoma Utomi To Deliver UNILAG Inaugural Lecture

Renowned orthodontist, Prof Ifeoma Linda Utomi will take the academic community on an excursion into the world of dental care in her inaugural lecture at the University of Lagos on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

Utomi will speak on “Beauty, Braces and Being: Restoring the smile, transforming the life” to inform her colleagues and the community about her research in the linkages between dental care and physical and emotional well-being.

Ifeoma Linda Utomi is a professor of Orthodontics/Consultant Orthodontist, Department of Dental Health, Faculty of Dentistry, at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.

Prof Utomi’s particular focus is on early treatment and special needs individuals as part of oral health and dental management.
She studied medicine (dentistry) and graduated from the University of Lagos in 1984. Prof Ifeoma Utomi earned a fellowship at the West African College of Surgeons in 1999.

She has been in teaching, research and training as a lecturer, senior lecturer and Associate Professor.

Ifeoma Utomi has mentored a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is a member of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Ifeoma Linda Utomi is the wife of Prof Pat Utomi, with whom she has five children.
