200 Global Registrants For UNN Mass Comm. Alumni's 'Knowledge Hub' Webinar

Not less than 200 research enthusiasts across the world have been registered to participate in the November edition of ‘Knowledge Hub’ Webinar series, organised by the University of Nigeria Mass Communication Alumni Association, known as The Jacksonites. 

The programme – part of the Jacksonite Professional Development Series (JPDS) –  will hold on Friday, November 4, 2022, and is specifically designed to rally communication professionals, academics, researchers, and graduate students for knowledge exchange.

The list of registrants, sighted by Prime Business Africa correspondent, indicates diverse geopolitical interest in the webinar which focuses on qualitative methods as key tool in basic and applied research methodologies. Organisers of the discourse also hinted that next month’s edition of the ‘Knowledge Hub’ webinar will address Quantitative Methods.

The Zoom webinar is held every first Friday of the month, just as this  November edition will be held at 4pm West African Time, with  about 200 registrants from diverse fields in Nigeria, Africa, United States and other parts of the world already documented.

The November edition is scheduled to focus on the topic: “Four Popular Qualitative Research Methods, for Mixed-methods Research” and will be discussed by four panelists who are experienced in research methodologies.

The panelists include: Victor Ayedun-Aluma from the University of Jos Nigeria, Dr. Karen Amaka Okigbo, University of Chicago, Prof. Rotimi Olatunji, Lagos State University Akoka; and Dr. Nuhu Gapsiso, University of Maiduguri, Borno State.

The programme will be moderated by Dr. Chuks Enwerem, while the CEO of Newstide Publications Limited, publishers of Prime Business Africa, Dr. Marcel Mbamalu, will deliver the opening  remarks.

A statement signed by the Alumni Liaison, Jeremiah Agada, said the monthly webinars had featured some of the leading scholars in Nigeria and the Diaspora, including Professors Idowu Sobowale (ex-UNILAG), Mustapha Malam (BUK), Nuhu Gapsiso (University of Maiduguri), Joseph Wogu (University of Nigeria), Kayode Lambe (University of Ilorin), and Bellarmine Ezumah (Murray State University, USA).

“Dr. Raheemat Adeniran of the Lagos State University will lead with explanations on Qualitative Content Analysis, followed by Professor Nuhu Gapsiso of the University of Maiduguri who will cover focus group discussions, while Dr. Ruqayyah Aliyu of Bayero University will make a presentation on In-depth Personal Interviews.
