Nigeria’s state oil company, NNPC Limited, has reported record production and outlined plans to drive investment and operational efficiency in 2026.
In a New Year address to staff, Group Chief Executive Officer Bashir Bayo Ojulari highlighted milestones from 2025, including upstream oil output reaching 355,000 barrels per day—the highest since 1989.
Key projects contributing to this growth included the Madu First Oil project, Soku Pipeline optimisation, and the commissioning of the Gbaran Nodal Compression Train.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelOjulari also pointed to downstream expansion, citing the launch of NNPC’s Oleum lubricant brand in West Africa and the commissioning of major infrastructure projects, such as the ANOH-OB3 pipeline and the River Niger crossing under the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline.
The CEO emphasised corporate governance and transparency, noting that NNPC held its first Group Earnings Call to announce audited 2024 financial results to stakeholders.
Workforce development was another priority, with 1,000 young professionals recruited under the “Tigers” programme and enhanced employee compensation packages introduced.
Looking ahead, Ojulari outlined a “Fit-For-Future” strategy to sustain operational excellence, promote innovation, and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.
He stressed the importance of collaboration across teams and with external partners to support the country’s broader economic growth, including power generation, job creation, and fiscal stability.
The company also plans to deepen strategic partnerships with domestic and international investors, positioning NNPC as a key driver of energy investment and industrial development in Nigeria.
