The Kogi State Government has unveiled two high-capacity PH20 surveillance drones as part of its efforts to strengthen security and intelligence operations across the state.
The drones were presented on Monday at the 12 Brigade Headquarters, Chari‑Maigumeri Barracks in Lokoja, the state capital, in a ceremony presided over by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo said the drones would help security agencies monitor criminal activity and respond more effectively to threats.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“These drones will allow our security forces to track movements in difficult terrain, penetrate forested hideouts, and gather intelligence in real time,” he said.
“Our priority is to ensure that Kogi remains safe for all residents.”
The PH20 drones are designed for long-range surveillance and precision monitoring. They are expected to assist in operations against kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, and other criminal activities.
Colonel Musa Adamu, representing the Nigerian Army, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a valuable addition to the state’s security infrastructure.
“Integrating drone technology into intelligence operations will improve coordination and operational efficiency,” he said.
The deployment is part of a wider security strategy that includes strengthening local intelligence networks, improving rapid response units, and coordinating closely with federal security agencies.
Governor Ododo stressed that technology alone would not solve insecurity, but combined with community cooperation and professional security operations, the drones would form a key component of the state’s approach.
“Safety is a shared responsibility. We urge communities to support our security agencies while we use modern tools to protect lives and property,” he said.
