Tinubu Decorates Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police

Bola Tinubu has formally decorated Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police at a ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.

The event took place on Wednesday, a day after  Disu was appointed as the country’s top police officer.

His appointment follows the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, which was confirmed by the presidency on Tuesday.

In a statement, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said President Tinubu accepted Egbetokun’s resignation after he submitted a letter citing pressing family reasons.

Disu previously served as Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos, and was promoted to the rank last year.

Before that, he was Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and later served as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and formerly led the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force.

Born on 13 April 1966 in Lagos Island, Disu joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has held several roles as a Divisional Police Officer across Ogun, Ondo and Rivers states.
