Florida Airport Set to Be Renamed After Trump

February 20, 2026

A major airport in the US state of Florida could soon be renamed after President Donald Trump, after lawmakers approved a bill backing the move.

The Republican-led Florida legislature on Thursday voted to rename Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport”. The proposal now awaits the signature of Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to approve it.

The airport serves Palm Beach, an affluent coastal town located close to Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

However, the change will also require approval from the Federal Aviation Administration before it can take effect.

If finalised, the airport would become one of several institutions linked to efforts to honour Trump’s name.

In Washington DC, a board appointed by the president voted in December to rebrand the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the “Trump-Kennedy Center”.

Reports in US media also say Trump previously pushed for New York’s Penn Station and Washington Dulles International Airport to be renamed after him, although those proposals were rejected.

Separately, the US Treasury is said to have drafted plans for a commemorative one-dollar coin bearing Trump’s image, despite laws that prohibit depicting a sitting or living president on US currency.
