Headies 2022: Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Others Snub Invitation

Multi-award-winning singers and faces of Nigeria’s music industry, Burna Boy, wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Yemi Alade were all absent at the Headies 2022.

The Headies 2022 which was the 15th edition of the prestigious awards, was held at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, the United States on Sunday, 4th September 2022. The date of the event was announced three months ago.

Although Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido won multi awards, they were all absent to receive them.

Wizkid who had the highest nominations, led with four wins, making him the most awarded artiste of the night. The Grammy winner won the awards for Best Afrobeats Album for Made in Lagos, Album of the Year for Made in Lagos (Delux Edition), Best Collaboration for Essence featuring Tems, and Best RNB single.

Burna Boy bagged awards for Best Male Artiste and Artiste of the Year awards while Davido won the Best Digital Artiste of the Year and the Humanitarian Award.

Tiwa Savage who was nominated for Best Female Artiste and Best RNB Album lost the Award to Tems who won in both categories.

While Olamide, Don jazzy, D’banj Omawumi, Rugar, Ayra Starr, BNXN, and many more were in attendance, Femi Kuti, Naira Marley, Wande Coal, Simi, and 2face were also absent.
